Multi-talented Abeokuta-based broacaster and music maker, popularly known as the "Edumare Don Bless Me" crooner, Olufemi Orunsola, who is stage named Awe is set to unveil his new Christmas-centric single tagged ECAROL -a short form for Egba Carol this Thursday at the OGADEP Christian Workers Fellowship Christmas carol service in Abeokuta

A statement by the Artiste manager of Awe, Mr.Tunde Adeojo, made available to OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News on Tuesday night states that, "In his usual creative ingenuity, the self-styled afro gospel Artiste has just released a new hit single titled Egba Carol (Meaning Christmas Carol song in the Egba dialect) to add some real time typical local flavours to the celebration of this year's Christmas by his fans in Abeokuta and Egba people spread across the world."

Adeojo noted that "Christmas in Abeokuta and for Egba people just received a new lease of creative flavour as Awe drops his freestyle single version of one of the most melodious Christmas carol songs of all times, the "Long Time Ago in Bethlehem" song in his own typical Egba dialect promoting manner."

"Imagine a Christmas Carol song rendition that combines the far Western style beats, percussions, and melody with the African talking drum sequences", Awe's manager, Adeojo said.

It would be recalled that Awe otherwise known as OmobaOrun in the earliest days of his musical career earned himself a global reputation as an Egba Rapper way back in 2009 when he released his first single, "Edumare Don Bless Me", a song in which he specifically thrills listeners with his unusual flair for delivering rap flows in Egba dialect.

While that song by Awe, like other evergreen songs focused on topical issues from his stable, has continued to enjoy massive airplay on both local radio and television stations within and beyond Ogun State, the new Christmas song which comes with a feel of some light comedy and Egba rap flows bears testament to the fact that indeed, Awe is a creative Artiste in a class of his own whom the music industry in Nigeria cannot ignore.

Adeojo further hinted that the new Christmas-centric song by Awe, with its upbeat trado modern rhythm, promises to become the toasts of church choirs in Abeokuta and beyond as the Christmas message remains unmistakably projected throughout the lyrics of the song.

"Apart from the premiere performance of this single by Awe at the IFAAC Ogun State office in Abeokuta on Thursday, watch out for Awe's live performances of the orchestral version of Egba Carol this Christmas season", Adeojo said, adding that "Don't be surprised if we are invited to render Egba Carol at the Ogun state Christmas carol service and other high profile Christmas events".
