MAPOLY Rector Reinstates Commitment to Staff Welfare As SSANIP Floats Maiden End-of-the-Year Party

The Rector, Moshood Abiola Polytechnic Abeokuta, Arc. Dr. Babatunde 'Koye Jolaoso has reinstated the commitment of his administration to staff welfare and improved conditions of service for all staff members and retirees of the institution.
OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports that the Rector made this known at Ojere in Abeokuta on Thursday during the maiden edition of the Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Polytechnics (SSANIP) which held at the Lawn Tennis Court of the Polytechnic.
OTN News further reports that Arc. Dr. Jolaoso, who was obviously elated and in high spirits, literarily stated his speech at the event with a freestyle dance of gratitude after which he openly expressed his heart-felt gratitude to the entire strata of staff, especially SSANIP staff members, students as well as retirees of the Polytechnic for what he described as their consistent and unflinching support for his administration since he assumed office as the first Alumnus Rector of the state-owned Polytechnic in December 2024.
Flanked by the Deputy Rector, Dr. Mrs. Yetunde Lanre-Iyanda, the Bursar, Mrs. Folasade Madariola, the Rector, said, "This is an opportunity for me, at this Owambe event to, on behalf of the Governing Council and management, express our joy as well as appreciation for all your support as a union and as individual staff members on this journey on which we have been together for the past one year during which we have had to curry your support all along", Arc. Jolaoso said.
He further reassured all staff members that his administration remains committed to better staff welfare package as clearly articulated in his institutional repositioning agenda while soliciting continued prayers and wise counsels from the retirees.
He also congratulated the retired members of staff who were celebrated and recognized by the union at the event.
Earlier, in his opening remark, the Chairman, SSANIP MAPOLY, who also doubles as the Ogun State Chapter Chairman of SSANIP, Comrade Tunde Abiodun, noted that "The day was not just another social gathering but a moment of reflection, appreciation and celebration of resilience, unity and purposeful engagement throughout the outgoing year."
He also affirmed that as a union, "SSANIP has always believed that progress is better achieved when dialogue replaces discord, cooperation outweighs confrontation and mutual respect guides our actions", noting that "One of the defining highlights of the union during the year was the full support given to the management towards the successful hosting of the 15th combined convocation ceremony of the institution in June 2025, among other responsible leadership engagements which culminated in the approval and implementation of 25%-35% salary increased effective from April 2025.
In her own goodwill messages, the Registrar of the Polytechnic, Mrs Olubunmi Elewodalu, who was ably represented by a Deputy Registrar, Mr Kayode Olumide, commended SSANIP for the great initiative of prioritizing staff welfare, emphasizing that there was no recourse to a single industrial action by SSANIP during thevoutgoing year, pled for more concerted efforts to sustain the system in the face of obvious challenges and subtle existential threats.
Another high point of the maiden End-of-the-Year social get-together was a parade of a set of best dressed SSANIP members who were attired in colourful traditional attires.
Arc. Dr. Jolaoso, in his personal capacity, took it upon himself to gift the best dressed members of staff.
Furthermore, in a solidarity message delivered by the Students Union President, Comrade Temitope Afolabi popularly known as Big Afoo, stressed that , "The commitment, dedication, and cooperation of SSANIP as a union has contributed immensely towards the success of students", adding that, "the students union government looks forward to continued collaboration for the growth of students and the collective peace and progress of the campus community".
Other high points of the event included: cutting of the SSANIP Maiden End-of-the-Year Cake and the presentation of gifts and certificates of membership to some retiring members of the union as well as the latest new member of the union who expressed her intention to join SSANIP a few days before the event.
On the whole, positive emotions of shared feelings of belonginess, collective reflections on the outgoing year, mutual appreciation, and shared camaraderie pervaded the atmosphere at the maiden edition of SSANIP End-of-the-Year Party as top management staff of the Polytechnic danced, wined and dined with staff members, retiring members some of whom were accompanied to the event by their family members, as we as students leaders who graced the ocassion.
