MAPOLY Radio to Host Outside Broadcast Outreach to Mark World Humanitarian Day 2025, Names Lion Tosin Taiwo, Julie Chi-Nwaoha As Guest Speakers, Humanitarian Awardees

As part of efforts geared towards pragmatic educational broadcasting focused on service to humanity, the Campus Radio station of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, MAPOLY 99.7 FM Ojere, Abeokuta is set to host a special outside broadcast show on Tuesday 19th August, 2025 in commemoration of the World Humanitarian Day 2025.
OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports as gathered that the Campus community outreach event is powered by the Campus Radio station in partnership with Broadcast major Higher National Diploma (HND) students of the institution’s Department of Mass Communication.
Linked to the flagship Radio Programme of the station tagged *DEVELOPMENT TODAY* hosted by Ambassador Olufemi Orunsola, the event, OTN News further gathered will afford the finalist broadcast students an opportunity to participate actively in an Outside Broadcast production while imbibing and propagating the virtues of community service and service to humanity.
The host of the show, Ambassador Olufemi Orunsola, noted that every 19th day of August has been earmarked for commemoration of the World Humanitarian Day, hence the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) based radio show has thought it prudent to take advantage of the occasion to deepen awareness about humanitarian principles articulated by the United Nations, namely: humanity, impartiality, neutrality, and independence among students of the state-owned institution.
He further highlighted that the event aims to raise awareness about humanitarian activities and to recognize individuals who are committed to volunteering for service to humanity.
Ambassador Orunsola hinted that the guest speakers for the day are: the First Vice District Governor District 404B, Lions Club International, Lion Barrister Tosin Adeyemi Taiwo and the National Coordinator, Celebrity Special Marshalls of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Julie Chi-Nwaoha, noting that the speakers have been rated for awards of Excellence in Humanitarian Services in recognition of their consistent commitment to humanitarian services in the country.
Highpoints of the event will include: a humanitarian day road show, emergency responding training for students by the Rabiatu Soaga Memorial Clinic Ojere, and the Red Cross Society of Nigeria as well as the National Coordinator, Celebrity Special Marshalls of the Federal Road Safety Corps(FRSC), CSM Julie Chi-Nwaoha.
World Humanitarian Day is an international day dedicated to recognizing humanitarian personnel and those who have died working for humanitarian causes. It was designated by the United Nations General Assembly as part of a Swedish-sponsored General Assembly Resolution on "Strengthening of the Coordination of Emergency Assistance of the United Nations," and designated 19 August as World Humanitarian Day for the purpose of "increasing public awareness about humanitarian assistance activities worldwide and the importance of international cooperation in this regard, as well as to honour all humanitarian and United Nations and associated personnel who have worked in the promotion of the humanitarian cause and those who have lost their lives in the cause of duty.
