OPEN TELEVISION Naija reports that in a display of gratitude and solidarity, executives from the Ladipo market have showered encomiuns on the Nigerian police during a visit to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police (CP), Adegoke Fayoade.
The delegation of Ladipo international market leaders entourage consisting, the Chief of Staff to the President, Chief Onyeka Igwe, the Vice President General of the international market and the Secretary General, showered the encomiuns on the Commissioner of Police for his successful operation against the notorious gang of billionaire kidnappers during a courtesy/solidarity visit.
The gang, which had terrorized Lagos and its environs, was decimated in a dramatic encounter with Fayoade’s men.
Revealing a shocking twist, it was revealed that among the nine kidnappers killed was Prince Henry Ode, a popular Nollywood actor and producer based in Port Harcourt.
During their visit, the executives of the auto spare parts market praised the Commissioner and his team for their relentless efforts in restoring safety to the area.
They also took advantage of the occasion to present CP Fayoade with a certificate of commendation, promising their continued cooperation in the fight against crime.
Their visit underscores the significant impact the police operation has had on local businesses and the community’s sense of security.
OPEN TELEVISION Naija recalls that the strategic sting operation that led to an end of the reign of terror against Ladipo auto spare parts market involved a fierce shootout as the kidnappers attempted to abduct a wealthy businessman.
OPEN TELEVISION Naija gathered that among the items recovered were two luxury vehicles, a Lexus 350 Jeep and a 4 Runner Jeep, both registered in the name of Prince Henry Ode. Mobile phones and other personal items linked to the actor were also found, confirming his involvement in the criminal activities, according to the police.
However, further investigations have revealed more about the gang members’ identities, including one of the deceased who was identified as a twin, with his brother now on the run.
In addition, information from a WhatsApp user has helped detectives identify five of the kidnappers, some of whom were known in the local community for their extravagant lifestyles.
The police are continuing efforts to apprehend the remaining gang members, with leads pointing to northern cities and known hangouts in Lagos.
The Police has taken custody of the owner of the popular bar frequented by the gang, who is now providing valuable information.
The police also revealed that the gang's ability to evade capture was partly due to their use of military uniforms, which allowed them to pass through police checkpoints undetected. These uniforms were among the items recovered from their vehicles after the encounter.
According to market executives, the police operation has had an immediate positive effect on the local business environment, with hoteliers and other businessmen reporting a surge in customers who now feel safer going out at night.
The solidarity visit by the Ladipo market executives highlights the community's appreciation for the police force's dedication to public safety.
The police Chief informed the executives that the case in reference serves as a stark reminder of the hidden dangers within seemingly respectable circles, with Prince Henry Ode's involvement in the gang underscoring the complex nature of crime in the city.
Fayoade has reassured Lagos residents that the police remain committed to rooting out criminal elements and ensuring the safety of all residents.
