"Keep Faith in Nigeria" - Pastor Says After Recovering Stolen Funds, Praises EFCC

OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports as gathered that a Nigerian pastor, Wilson Akubo, has expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) after the agency successfully recovered all the funds stolen from his bank accounts during a recent hacking incident.

OTN News further reports as gathered that the pastor revealed that unknown fraudsters gained access to his two separate bank accounts and completely emptied his savings, leaving him in shock.

“I was surprised such a thing could happen to me here in Nigeria,” he said, noting that his love for the country and his constant prayers for its prosperity made the experience particularly painful.

Refusing to give up, the pastor immediately reported the theft to the affected banks, the Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) Customer Protection Department, the Consumer Protection Council, and the EFCC.

Despite his financial loss, he maintained hope, insisting that Nigeria remains “a good land” and continued to pray for the country’s progress.

OTN News, however, observes that his perseverance was rewarded when the EFCC’s Abuja Zonal Command, under the leadership of Commander Michael Wetkas, recovered 100 percent of the stolen funds within days.

The commission also apprehended the perpetrators and restored money to other victims who had been targeted in the same scheme—without demanding bribes or illicit payments.

Expressing his appreciation, Pastor Akubo commended the EFCC and other public institutions for their dedication.

He said, “I believe Nigeria is working. The EFCC is working, the police are working, the military is working, and the judiciary is working. Yes, we have a few bad eggs, but that doesn’t mean nothing is working in our country,” he declared.

The cleric, however, urged Nigerians to remain steadfast in prayer for the nation and to recognize the efforts of honest public officers serving with integrity.
