Iranian State Media Confirms Death of Iran's President, Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Affairs Minister, 9 Others Dead in Sunday Chopper Crash

The President of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi, his foreign affairs and several other iranian officials have been found dead at the site of the helicopter crash, which took place on Sunday 19th May, 2024, after about 18 hours of intensive search abd rescue efforts amidst bad weather.
The Iranian state media have confirmed the death of the 63-year old Iranian President, Ebrahim Raisi, his foreign affairs minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and others as the wreckage of the helicopter was eventually found in the mountains in Iran's East Azerbaijani region.
Open Television Naija reports that Iranian officials have released a drone shot photograph of the helicopter which crashed into a mountain peak.
Meanwhile, following Iranian protocols statutorily meant to be observed when a President dies in office, the Supreme leader, Khamenei is expected to approve Mohammad Mokhber , the country's first Vice-President, to take over Raisi's role as an interim President after which a new Presidential election will be held within a maximum of 50 days.
Open Television Naija recalls that Mohammad Mokhber is a renowned political figure who has close ties with the Supreme leader Khamenei.
Mokhber is believed to have earned a high position by previously handling the finances of Khamenei for several years.
At the moment, Mohammad Mokhber, is the first Vice-President of Iran, having been a lead expert providing ideas to the late President Raisi on "resistance" economy.
