Iganmode Day: "Ota is a Cornerstone of Ogun's Growth and Development" Says Abiodun, Assures Aworiland of Befitting Infrastructural Developments

Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has assured the traditional rulers and the entire people of Awori land of further infrastructural developments in the area, emphasizing that Ado Odo Ota is significantly, the major industrial hub that contributes immensely to the internally generated revenue and gross domestic product (GDP) of the gateway state.
The governor made this known during his address at the 2024 Iganmode Day cultural festival celebration at the Nawarudeen High School Sports Pavilion, Ota, where he was ably represented by the Deputy Governor Noimot Salako-Oyedele, a daughter of Awori Land.
Governor Abiodun noted that the importance of Ota to Ogun State could not be overemphasized noted that the presence of leading industries and thriving businesses in the region has positioned the state as Nigeria’s industrial capital.
He further added that his administration recognises the prosperity of Ota as directly linked to the prosperity of Ogun State, assuring that Ogun state government remains committed to addressing infrastructural challenges and creating an enabling environment for businesses and individuals to thrive.
Obviously elated and proud to identify with her roots, the Deputy Governor of Ogun State, while delivering the governor's addresse said,“Our contributions have not only boosted the economy but also elevated the state’s reputation on both national and global stages. In addition to our economic contributions, we, the people of Ota and Ado Odo Ota Local Government, have been steadfast partners in the democratic journey of this administration. Our support in the last election played a crucial role in the victory of the All Progressives Congress.
“This partnership has provided a foundation for our administration to continue delivering good governance, and we are deeply grateful for the trust and confidence of the people of Ota,” the governor affirmed.
He therefore assured residents that the construction of critical roads in Ado Odo Ota remains a top priority of his administration.
In his address, the governor acknowledged the longstanding neglect of the major Ota-Abeokuta Road, a vital corridor for trade and commerce, but reaffirmed that his administration has begun work on the road while actively engaging with the Federal Government and other stakeholders to ensure its compleþte rehabilitation.
According to him, significant progress has also been made on the Atan-Lusada-Agbara roads, with efforts aimed at improving the quality of life, fostering industrial growth, and enhancing community connectivity.
He reaffirmed his government’s commitment to delivering these projects to elevate the standard of living for the people of Ota.
In his royal remarks, the Olota of Ota, Oba Professor Abdulkabir Adeyemi Obalanlege, (Lanlege Ekun II) noted that the Iganmode Day traditional festival has, over the years, amplified cultural consciousness while driving infrastructural development, human capacity building, and economic growth in Ota.
The Royal Father called on the citizens of Ota and the Aworis to remain dedicated to fostering peace, unity, and progress.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Chairman of Ado Odo Ota Local Government, Adewale Lawal, said the annual Iganmode Day is aimed not only at uniting the sons and daughters of Ota Aworiland but also at promoting its rich cultural heritage.
He urged citizens to continue contributing meaningfully to the development of Ota Aworiland while promoting unity, peace, and love among one another, describing the cultural festival as a celebration of the identity, history, and resilience of the Awori people, whose industriousness and dedication have made Ota a cornerstone of Ogun State’s growth and development.
