OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports that the Department of State Services, (DSS) has arrested three suspected human trafficking syndicates over the sale of a two-year-old girl for N100,000.

OTN News further reports that the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking Persons (NAPTIT), who disclosed this in a statement after the DSS handed over the three suspects to them, said that the syndicates were arrested after the child had been trafficked from Abuja to Aba at the price of N100,000.

According to the statement, the child was trafficked in February 2025 and was rescued by the agency’s command in Abia State on May 8.

“A 2-year-old girl, renamed Chiamaka Favor (alias), who was trafficked from Abuja to Aba in February 2025, has been rescued by NAPTIP Abia Command on May 8, 2025.”

“The suspected trafficker, arrested by DSS Abia and handed over to NAPTIP, is alleged to have worked with three trafficking syndicates from Abuja and sold the child to a buyer for N100,000." Adding that "Investigations are ongoing.”

NAPTIP, however, called on the biological parents of the child or her family members to urgently contact the agency for next steps.
