How Female Nigerian Artiste Oluwaseun Adelaja Pushes Frontiers of Creative Excellence

From the hard core fields of Sciences, Technological Innovations, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) as widely recognised by academics, Nigerians in the field of Arts have made a loud statement that redefined STEM to include ARTS in the lot, hence the recognition of STEAM as the new acronym among academic scholars and development communication circles and discourse across the world.
From stage theatre to cinematography and the multi-billionaire naira Nollywood industry to the unarguable global leader in creative arts - the Nigerian music industry. The testimonials of creative excellence emerging from Nigerians at home and abroad can not be controverted.
In the firmament of Nigeria's creative arts industry comes a young Nigerian female visual artist who is in the news for her rare demonstration of a careful blend of natural talent with the acquisition of top-notch artistic skills. That news-making creative artist poised to break records and set new ones is none else but Oluwaseun Elizabeth Adelaja, born January 8, 1998. She is a Nigerian-born visual artist working across painting, photography, and drawing.
Oluwaseun Elizabeth Adelaja was raised in Ogun State, Nigeria, where her early interest in visual storytelling and creative expression began to shape her artistic identity.
She studied Creative Arts at Tai Solarin Federal University of Education, Ijagun, Ogun State, graduating in 2018 with a Bachelor of Arts in Education (B.A.Ed), Second Class Upper Division (CGPA 4.2). During her academic training, she developed strong technical and conceptual skills through studio practice and critical engagement under the mentorship of Mr. Adekoya Samson (Samkay), Professor Abiodun Banjo, Professor Olatuji Idowu, Dr. Kafar, and Mr. Abiodun Abodunrin.
Oluwaseun’s practice is grounded in an intuitive and expressive approach, drawing inspiration from personal experiences, cultural memory, and human presence. Her ability to work fluidly across multiple mediums allows her to build a cohesive and evolving visual language.
Beyond her studio practice, she has contributed to arts education by teaching art in secondary schools and continues to give back to her community through painting workshops.
Oluwaseun continues to expand her artistic practice, blending her Nigerian heritage with contemporary influences to create meaningful and culturally resonant visual narratives.
For the records, OTN News had earlier reported that Oluwaseun participated in several arts exhibitions and fairs, including the first ever visual arts stakeholders Arts Exhibition in Ogun state where the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun was ably represented by the Honourable Commissioner for Culture and Tourism in the state, Honourable Sesan Fagbayi.
Oluwaseun's Exhibition corner at that historic event was not only an awesome sight to behold but the cynosure of all eyes as participants who and arts enthusiasts who thronged the Exhibitions halls at the Ogun State Cultural Centre, could not resist the urge to appreciate the uniqueness brought to bear in art works on display by Oluwaseun.
Similarly, Oluwaseun has consistently shown her passion for creative excellence by networking with upcoming creative artists in the academia by participating actively in Arts Exhibition by the Department of Arts and Industrial Design, Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
