The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has returned the sum of N1,034,010, along with other valuable items, to the family of Mr. Najeem Abiodun Babalola, who tragically lost his life in a fatal car accident on June 11, 2024.

OPEN TELEVISION Naija (OTN) News gathered that in a statement signed by SRC, Adamu S. Ibrahim, the Abuja Airport Unit Commander, and shared on X.com on Thursday, it was revealed that the Sector Commander, Corps Commander, Chorie Mutaa, officially handed over the money and items to the victim's mother, with other family members present.

The presentation was made as part of the FRSC’s commitment to upholding honesty and ensuring that victims and their families receive proper treatment in such unfortunate circumstances.

The fatal crash, which took place near the Iddo Sabo U-turn along the Abuja Airport junction-Giri route, involved a Lexus 350 sedan and two motorcycles.

Unfortunately, Mr. Babalola and two other individuals involved in the accident succumbed to their injuries after being rushed to the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital by a rescue team from the Abuja Airport Unit Command.

Despite the challenges posed by the damage to the deceased's phone in the crash, the Unit Command made continuous efforts to contact the family and ensure that the victim's belongings were returned safely.

In his remarks during the handover of the recovered valuables, Commander Mutaa expressed deep condolences to the bereaved family.

He urged motorists and pedestrians alike to always adhere to traffic laws and regulations to avoid such tragedies in the future.

Despite the best efforts of the FRSC rescue team, all three victims were pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.

Commander Mutaa also took the opportunity to commend the swift response and professional conduct of the Abuja Airport Unit Command team, who were responsible for the rescue and recovery operation.

OTN News recalls that In recognition of their exemplary efforts, Commander Mutaa presented commendation letters to the Unit Commander and his team, acknowledging their dedication to duty and service to humanity.

The family of Mr. Babalola, visibly moved by the gesture, expressed their gratitude to the FRSC team for their integrity and diligence throughout the process.

In addition to the sum of money, the valuables recovered from the accident scene included two POS machines, a Tecno phone, a power bank, five ATM cards, a lantern, and a USB, all of which were returned to the family in an ash-colored bag that had belonged to Mr. Babalola.

The FRSC’s actions not only brought a measure of relief to the grieving family but also served as a reminder of the importance of honesty, responsibility, and compassion in the face of tragedy.

The incident further underscores the need for greater awareness and adherence to road safety protocols to prevent such accidents from claiming more lives.
