In a significant move towards fulfilling its promise of renewed hope for Nigerian students by the Federal government, in the pursuit of higher education, the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has declared that starting May 24, the student loan application portal will be operational.
The announcement was made by Mr. Akintunde Sawyerr, the Managing Director of NELFUND, who emphasized the importance of this development in a statement released in Abuja on Thursday.
In the statement, he said that, this initiative is part of President Bola Tinubu's pledge to ensure education is accessible to every Nigerian student.
He explained that the portal's launch is seen as a critical step towards removing financial barriers that often hinder students from pursuing higher education.
He noted that this user-friendly online platform, students across the nation will have the opportunity to apply for loans that can cover their educational expenses, allowing them to focus on their studies without the burden of financial stress.
Mr. Sawyerr said “We encourage all eligible students to take advantage of this opportunity to invest in their future and contribute to the growth and development of our nation,”
He however, encouraged them to visit www.nelf.gov.ng, where they can find all the necessary information to start their loan application process.
