FCE Osiele Launches NUC-Approved Degree Programmes

By: Editor

ABEOKUTA -The Federal College of Education, Abeokuta (FCEA), Ogun State’s pioneer tertiary institution since 1976, has received National Universities Commission (NUC) approval to offer 29 full-time undergraduate degree programmes starting the 2025/2026 session.

OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports as gathered from a press release by the institution's Registrar, Mr. Ọlábọ̀dé O. Tọ̀nàdé and Ag. Director of Information, Anthony Ogundipe, that this milestone allows 100-level entry for UTME candidates scoring 150 or above in the 2025 JAMB, plus 200-level Direct Entry for others, even if FCEA was not their first choice—applicants simply change institutions. The college, spanning 633 hectares in Osiele, upholds its reputation as Nigeria’s peaceful teacher-training benchmark with modern facilities and no session disruptions from strikes.

The NUC approved programmes are basically Bachelors innEducation degrees: B.Ed., B.Sc.Ed., and B.A.Ed. programmes across education, sciences, arts, and vocational fields, moulded for excellence in teacher preparation.

The approved degree courses are:

1.B.Ed. Primary Education, Adult and Non-Formal Education, Educational Management, Early Childhood Education, Guidance and Counselling

2.B.Sc.Ed. Agricultural Science, Home Economics, Economics, Political Science, Business Education, Biology/Chemistry/Computer Science/Mathematics/Physics Education, Health Education, Human Kinetics, Integrated Science

3.B.A.Ed. Fine and Applied Arts, English, French, Christian Religious/Islamic/Arabic Studies, Theatre Arts, Social Studies and Civic Education, Music/Yoruba Language Education

4.B.Sc.Ed. Library Information Science

Candidates access full details, application portals, and the admissions office via the college website or by calling 08035634042, 08038189062, 08030671240, 08033513183, or 09099616616.

Established as a Centre of Excellence, FCEA excels in qualified staff, resources, and character-building for global teacher education standards. Unlike prior affiliations with institutions like the University of Ibadan for select degrees, these NUC-approved courses mark independent full-time offerings on the main campus.

The announcement by Registrar Mr. Ọlábọ̀dé O. Tọ̀nàdé and Ag. Director of Information Anthony Ogundipe underscores readiness for expanded enrolments
