The family of late former Chief Executive of E-Commerce giant, Konga, Nick Imudia, has refuted claims that the current Group CEO of D.light International committed suicide.
They clarified that the suicide has been ruled out, cause of death is still under investigation.
OPEN TELEVISION Naija reports that Imudia passed away during a brief visit to Lagos, Nigeria, while D.light International is headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya.
Dr. Anthony N. Imudia, speaking for the family, criticized the premature news reports suggesting Imudia left instructions for his brother and daughter before his death.
The family found the timing of these reports, which emerged while they were attempting to resuscitate him, to be suspicious.
As gathered by OPEN TELEVISION Naija, Imudia's family has expressed dissatisfaction with the media's unprofessional handling of his death, refuting the erroneous reports of suicide.
Supported by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, who has pledged to investigate the sudden death, the family clarified that Imuda neither called his brother in America with instructions for his wealth nor contacted his daughter with any directives.
The family questioned how the news could have been reported so quickly — within three hours of his death — while they were still at the hospital attempting to resuscitate him.
Highlighting Imuda's strong family ties and the absence of any signs of stress or depression, they stated that the suggestion of suicide is highly questionable.
Imudia oversaw the global operations of D.light International from Nairobi. Those who interacted with him, even in his final hours, were stunned by media reports claiming his death was a suicide.
OPEN TELEVISION Naija recalls that Imudia had just visited the Netherlands and was on a brief trip to Lagos, planning to return to Nairobi the next day. His career began with Nokia, where he moved from Helsinki to Singapore to manage Nokia Asia operations.
Later, he served as Managing Director for Nokia West and Central Africa. After Nokia was acquired by Microsoft, Imuda chose to leave and took on the challenge of revitalizing Konga Nigeria as its CEO.
Friends, colleagues, and family are deeply shocked and reject the suicide narrative. They ask the media and the public to respect their mourning and refrain from spreading unfounded rumors about the circumstances of his death.
Meanwhile, many netizens have made bold to ventilate the opinion that the suicide death narratives that circulated does not add up hence the call for further probes into the actual cause of the death of the deceased entrepreneur.
