OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports that popular Nigerian skit maker and streamer, Oderhohwo Efe, widely known as Carter Efe, is at the centre of growing conversations about relationship breakdowns in the streaming industry after publicly confirming his separation from his baby mama, Emmanuella, more than a year ago.
Carter Efe disclosed the breakup on January 11, 2026, through a series of emotional Instagram posts, revealing that the relationship had taken a severe toll on his mental health, finances and creative output.
According to the streamer, the period marked one of the most difficult phases of his life, leaving him unable to think clearly, produce content or maintain stability.
“Just to let you know guys, I have been single for over one year now. God is good,” he wrote, adding that the relationship left him “broke,” mentally drained and creatively blocked for nearly two years.
The streamer described the separation as especially painful due to prolonged periods away from his child, Charis, noting that he went nearly three months without seeing the child.
Despite the emotional strain, Carter Efe said he refused to allow the experience derail his career and instead channelled the pain into rebuilding himself.
He credited the breakup as a turning point that reignited his focus and ambition, linking his recent rise and dominance in the streaming space to the decision to walk away.
According to him, his increased visibility, consistency and growth on platforms such as Twitch only came after he exited the relationship.
“This days you guys noticed I have been happy and active, it’s because I was able to move away since,” he wrote, declaring that he is now in a far better place emotionally and professionally.
The revelation sparked fresh controversy when his former partner, identified as Ella, reportedly contradicted aspects of his timeline shortly after his posts, reigniting debates on social media and drawing mixed reactions from fans.
OTN News observes that Carter Efe’s announcement comes amid a wave of high-profile relationship breakdowns among content creators, particularly within Nigeria’s streaming community.
Just days earlier, TikTok star Peller confirmed the end of his relationship with fellow creator Jarvis, weeks after a public engagement that many fans believed was genuine.
The Peller–Jarvis breakup quickly turned contentious after Jarvis claimed the relationship was partly a “content contract,” prompting Peller to unfollow and block her across social platforms.
The emotional fallout reportedly escalated when Peller was involved in a car crash during a livestream, sparking concern among fans.
Reacting publicly, Carter Efe urged Peller to move on and refocus on his craft, advising him not to allow heartbreak destroy his livelihood.
“Forget Jarvis and get back to streaming,” Carter Efe said during a live session, a statement that further positioned him as a central voice in the unfolding streamer drama.
The trend is not limited to Nigeria. International creators have also faced public splits in recent months, reinforcing what observers describe as a growing culture of “digital heartbreaks” driven by the pressures of fame, content monetisation and public scrutiny.
Relationship experts suggest that 2026 is shaping up to be a year of “intentional living” and personal resets for online creators, many of whom are choosing career focus over public relationships.
For Carter Efe, the breakup appears to have marked a rebirth rather than a setback. As he openly celebrates his current success and renewed sense of purpose, the streamer’s story reflects a broader shift within the digital entertainment space, where personal loss increasingly fuels professional reinvention.
