OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports as gathered that the students of the Polytechnic, Ibadan, Oyo State, protested on Tuesday, over the renaming of the institution to Omololu Olunloyo Polytechnic.

OTN News further reports as gathered that the students who blocked both the entrance gates of the institution and Sango-Eleyele Road, have left hundreds of commuters plying Sango-Eleyele Road in Ibadan stranded.

OTN News had earlier reported that the State Governor, Seyi Makinde, had earlier proposed renaming the institution in honour of the late former governor of the state, Omololu Olunloyo, who died at the age of 89, which he later did.

OTN News recalls that, this move by the governor had since then sparked controversy from the alumni, students and some residents in the area.

However, the Oyo State Road Transport Management Agency (OYTMA) in a statement by the Executive Chairman, Maj. Adekoya Rtd. enjoined commuters to use alternative routes for their movements pending temporary blockage of the roads.
