Confusion as Police Arrest Man For Beating Wife to Death Over Ramadan’s Breaking Food

OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA OTN News reports that the Bauchi State Police Command on Sunday said that it arrested a 50 year old man, Nuru Isah, who allegedly killed his second wife, Wasila Abdullahi, 24.
OTN News further reports that the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ahmed Wakil, who disclosed this in a press release statement made available to newsmen, said that on Saturday, the command was alerted to an alleged culpable homicide incident near Government Girls College, Fadamam Mada Area, Bauchi.
According to him, the event arose from a misunderstanding between one Nuru Isah, aged 50, a businessman at Central Market Bauchi, and his second wife, Wasila Abdullahi, aged 24, concerning handling food ingredients and fruits designated for breaking the Ramadan fast, which escalated into a violent confrontation.
“Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect, Nuru Isah, is accused of using a cane to strike his wife, which resulted in her collapsing and becoming unconscious within their matrimonial residence.
“The victim was subsequently transported to Abubakar Tafawa Belewa University Teaching Hospital, ATBUTH Bauchi, where medical personnel confirmed her death.”
Wakil noted that Bauchi State Police Command had initiated a thorough investigation into the incident and has apprehended the suspect, Nuru Isah, adding that the cane purportedly utilised in the assault has been recovered as an exhibit, and the deceased has been placed in the mortuary pending autopsy procedures.
The statement, however, added that the State Commissioner of Police, Auwal Muhammad, has assured the public that the commitment to ensuring justice remains a priority for the command.
It reminded the public that "domestic violence constitutes a serious offence with potentially devastating repercussions.”
Meanwhile the command reiterated its “unwavering commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of all citizens while ensuring that offenders of criminal activities are held accountable.”
