Confusion as NDLEA Commander Found Dead in Hotel Room

OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports as gathered that the Cross River State Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Morrison Ogbonna, was found dead in his hotel room in Calabar, on Thursday.
OTN News further reports as gathered that the Incident which still look mysterious to the command was said to have raised many questions in the state.
An eyewitness who spoke to news men in the state on a request of anonymity, said that, Ogbonna’s officers discovered his body when they went to the hotel to pick him up for a scheduled assignment.
According to the eyewitness, “this morning, some officers went to the hotel to pick him up. When they didn’t get any response, they alerted the hotel management, who opened the room and found him lifeless.”
OTN News further reports as gathered that Ogbonna, who was said to have just been transferred to Cross River in August 2025 to replace Rachel Umebuali, had only recently assumed duty in the state, when this unfortunate incident happened.
However, confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in Cross River, SP Irene Ugbo-Obase, said, “I can confirm that this is true, but what led to his death is something I cannot readily disclose.”
