OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports that amid ongoing party defection and in preparation for the upcoming 2027 election, a former Chairman of Gombe State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Reconciliation Committee, Air Vice Marshal Shehu Adamu Fura (Rtd), has resigned from the party and joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

OTN News further reports that Fura, who disclosed this in a letter addressed to the PDP Ward Chairman of Pantami Ward in Gombe local government area, said that his decision followed wide consultations about his future in politics.

According to him, “I wish to formally tender my resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with immediate effect.

"This decision comes after deep personal reflection and wide consultations, and is borne out of my desire to continue my political journey under the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), where I hope to contribute more effectively to the advancement of democratic values and good governance for national development.” he said.

OTN News observes that Fura, who is a former PDP governorship aspirant in the state, said his time with the party was marked by valuable experience and service, particularly at the grassroots.

He recalled his role as chairman of the Gombe PDP Reconciliation Committee, where he worked to build party unity and internal cohesion, especially in the aftermath of electoral tensions and intra-party disputes.

“My time with the PDP has been one of valuable experience and service. Also, I had the honour of serving as the Chairman of the Gombe State PDP Reconciliation Committee, where I worked alongside committed party members to strengthen unity and internal cohesion within the party.

“These experiences, political exposure, and support I received from the PDP at all levels, particularly from Pantami Ward, will always be remembered and appreciated,” he said.

He, however extended gratitude to the party leadership and members for their trust and cooperation over the years, while wishing the PDP success in its future endeavours.
