OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports that renowned Nigerian businessman and philanthropist, Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata, has been buried in Madina, Saudi Arabia, in accordance with his final wish to be laid to rest beside his late wife.

OTN News further reports that the 94-year-old patriarch of the influential Dantata family passed away in the early hours of Saturday in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE).

OTN News observes from the information gathered that the interment took place thousands of kilometres away, a solemn funeral prayer was held in absentia at the Umar Bin Khattab Mosque in Kano.

The prayer session was led by the Chairman of the Kano Council of Ulama, Sheikh Ibrahim Khalil, and the Commandant General of the Kano Hisbah Board, Sheikh Ibrahim Daurawa.

Dignitaries in attendance at the Kano prayer included the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin; top members of the Kano State Executive Council; and prominent figures from the business community, all of whom gathered to pay their last respects to a man widely regarded as one of northern Nigeria’s most impactful industrialists and philanthropists.

Reacting to his passing, northern governors and public figures described Dantata’s death as a national loss. Tributes continue to pour in for the late elder statesman, with many highlighting his lifelong contributions to commerce, philanthropy, and Islamic scholarship.

OTN News, however, observes that, Alhaji Aminu Dantata, a direct descendant of the famed Alhassan Dantata, leaves behind a legacy of enterprise, generosity, and community service that helped shape modern Kano and influenced generations of Nigerian entrepreneurs.
