ALUMNI NEWS:Ekiti State Government College Ado-Ekiti Alumni Celebrates 40th Anniversary, Gifts 18 Seater Bus, Elects New Excos

Feelings of nostagia and emotional reconnections rent the air as members of the Ekiti State Government College, Ado-Ekiti Alumni Association gathered to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the school and 2025 Home coming, gifting their alma mater an 18 seater bus.
OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports that the reunion held at the school premises along Federal Polytechnic road, Ado-Ekiti with members getting very excited and emotional seeing one another physically after long years since departing from their alma mater.
In his speech, the outgoing Global President of the Alumni Association, Mr. Kayode Fasubaa said his tenure witnessed tremendous achievements with the support of the executives and other members of the Association.
“The various projects embarked upon by the Alumni were aimed at contributing to the growth of and future of their former school. “It is our collective legacy and we appreciate you being part of it through your presence and your generous contribution," he stated.
Mr Fasubaa acknowledged the school management and the state government for their support, especially for the land approval granted the alumni and the ongoing fencing of the college.
Also speaking, the former president, who is presently the Chairman, Planning Committee of the 40th anniversary and the 2025 Home coming of Ekiti State Government College, Ado-Ekiti Alumni Association, Pastor Timi David Famoroti appreciated all members of the Association for their financial and moral support which he said had helped to record great success.
According to Pastor Famoroti “As we celebrate the past, let us also turn our eyes towards the future, the road ahead is Rich with possibility, we envision a union that not only preserves our heritage, but also pioneers new paths”.
In his speech, the Principal of the School, Mr. Olanipekun Eweje commended Governor Oyebanji for approving the transformation of the school from analogue to a digitalised school.
Mr. Eweje lauded the contributions of the Alumni through mentorship, advocacy and enormous philanthropical gesture covering infrastructure upgrade, environmental facelift through provision of solar street light, students furniture, sponsorship of annual inter-house games competition, prize and award giving among others amounting to about 200 million naira in the last decade of Alumni intervention in the college.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Mr. Michael Omolayo stressed that the roles of Alumni Associations in contributing to the growth of schools can not be overemphasized, saying they complement government’s efforts towards moving the education sector forward.
Mr. Omolayo commended the Alumni of Ekiti State Government College, Ado-Ekiti for their commitment to the growth of the school and the welfare of the students.
In his words, "The present administration has made the college an epicentre of smart school, as 16 classrooms have been upgraded for digital teaching, students of various schools will be coming here for computer based examinations”.
He added that efforts were ongoing to extend the upgrade to other schools in the state.
During a brief symposium, the Alumni urged the current Students to be serious with their studies in order to become successful in life.
At the Congress of the Ekiti State Government College, Ado-Ekiti Alumni Association, held on Sat 27th Sept. 2025 Mr Olowe Olamilekan was elected as the Global President, Mr Akanle Abiodun as Vice President, General Secretary: Adedapo Abe, Assistant Secretary: Oluwayemisi Akomolafe.
Others executive members elected include: Financial Secretary: Ayeni Bamidele, Ajofoyinbo Ayodele as Media and Publicity Secretary, Social Director: Adebayo Afuye Welfare Director: Omonike Omotoso, Government Liason Officer: Ogunrinde Kayode.
In his acceptance speech, the new Global President of the Association, Mr Olowe Olamilekan promised to work towards addressing the challenges being faced by the present Students one after the other.
Olowe assured members of the Alumni body to cooperate with him in order to record success, while giving assurance not to renege on the promises he made to them.
The Chairman, Board of Trustees of the Alumni Association, Mr. Jones Rotimi congratulated the new Executives on their election, urging them not to disappoint those who gave them the mandate.
The Chairman, Electoral Committee, Comrade Ope Omole commended the members for conducting themselves in peaceful manner which contributed to the success of the election.
A major high point of the event was the donation of an 18 seater hummer bus to the school by the alumni association in addition to other educational materials such as lockers, for the use of students.
Other highpoints of the event was a cultural display by the students, dinner and award night.
