All Hail The New Alaafin of Oyo, Prince Abimbola Owoade!
Some 21 months after the passage to glory of the former Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III, who joined his ancestors on April 22, 2022, the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde has approved the appointment of Prince Abimbola Akeem Owoade as the New Alafin of Oyo.

Some 21 months after the passage to glory of the former Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III, who joined his ancestors on April 22, 2022, the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde has approved the appointment of Prince Abimbola Akeem Owoade as the New Alafin of Oyo.
OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports that the approval was Announced by the Oyo State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Dotun Oyelade in a statement which reads: “Prince Abimbola Akeem Owoade, after thorough consultations and divinations, has been recommended by the Oyomesi and approved by Governor Seyi Makinde as the new Alaafin of Oyo."
OTN News further reports that the Information Commissioner affirmed that a statement to this effect had been issued by the Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ademola Ojo, who said that "The announcement had put to rest all bickerings that had ensued since the demise of His Imperial Majesty, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III on April 22, 2022."
Oyelade further added that, "We urge the people of Oyo State to support the new Alaafin and join the government in celebrating this historic moment".
