2027 Election: Aviation Minister, Keyamo Laughs Off ADA, Calls It a Failed Attempt to Recreate APC’s Legacy

OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports that the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has ridiculed the newly proposed All Democratic Alliance (ADA), describing it as a political “joke” that poses no real threat to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
OTN News further reports that, Keyamo made the remarks on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle while reacting to the move by prominent opposition figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and ex-Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, to float the new political platform ahead of the 2027 general elections.
OTN News recalls that the ADA, promoted by the Nigerian National Coalition Group (NNCG), submitted its registration request to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on June 19.
The letter was jointly signed by Akin Ricketts as the national chairman and Abdullahi Musa Elayo as the pro-tem national secretary.
But Keyamo was quick to downplay the development, asserting that the group’s efforts lacked the cohesion and gravitas needed to unsettle the APC.
He dismissed the formation as a mere “application for party registration” rather than a meaningful coalition.
“This is just a simple application for party registration. There is nothing like a ‘coalition’ here,” Keyamo wrote. “It is an unnecessary hype the promoters have been struggling to create all along. It is just psychological warfare against Nigerians and a weak attempt at mass appeal.”
He insisted that the initiative is not comparable to the coalition that birthed the APC in 2013, which united multiple political parties in a seismic political realignment.
“If they are thinking of recreating what the APC did in 2013, then this is nothing but a pedestrian joke. A complete mockery of that seismic political coalition that birthed the APC in 2013,” Keyamo said.
The minister added that no major political party is involved in the ADA project, labeling the move as misleading and overstated.
“After all the razzmatazz, it boils down to the fact that a new political party is just attempting registration by a few Nigerians. It is a disappointing anti-climax to all the preceding pomp and pageantry.” he added.
The APC, widely seen as the most successful political coalition in Nigeria’s democratic history, was formed in 2013 through the merger of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), and a breakaway faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP).
The coalition fielded Muhammadu Buhari in the 2015 election, defeating the then-incumbent PDP and marking the first democratic transfer of power from one party to another in Nigeria’s history.
