Why Obasa Was Impeached - APC Chieftain Fouad Oki

More reasons have unfolded about why the erstwhile Speaker of the Lagos state House of Assembly, Rt.Hon. Musashiru Obasa was impeached.

Giving this insight was a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Fouad Oki who revealed that the impeachment of Mudashiru Obasa as the speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly was not unconnected with his recalcitrant attitudes and was done in the best interests of the state.

According to him, President Bola Tinubu himself saw the Speaker’s alleged unimaginable behavior when he tried to resolve the crisis in the house during his visit to Lagos last Yuletide.

Oki, who appeared on Channels Television’s Politics Today, after the Speaker’s impeachment, revealed that President Bola Tinubu tried to resolve the crisis in the state legislature.

In his words, "Before the president came home, this issue had been lingering.

“In the wisdom of members of the Governor’s Advisory Council, GAC, the president’s attention was called.

“The president, as father and leader, called a meeting wherein he tried to make a sense out of the observations raised by elders of the party.

He further revealed that the president saw by himself a recalcitrant Obasa. I think that is what broke the camel’s back," he concluded. 

Meanwhile, OTN News recalls that the immediate reason given by the 32 members of the Lagos legislative chamber for the impeachment of the Speaker was allegation of fraud. running to billions of naira.

As at the time of this publication, efforts to get the impeached Speaker to present his position on the development has proved futile.
