In a significant turn of events, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has announced the reinstatement of Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi as the new Emir of Kano
The announcement came after the governor signed the new emirate council law, which had been passed by the state House of Assembly
OPEN TELEVISION Naija gathered that the governor signed the law today at exactly 5:10 p.m alongside his deputy, the Speaker of the State Assembly and other principal officers in the governmen
It would be recalled that the immediate past governor of the State, Abdullahi Ganduje dethroned Sanusi as the Emir of Kano in 2020, and announced the splitting of the Kano emirate into five, appointing an emir for each emirat
However, following the emergence of a new administration, indicators emerged that the deposed Emir would be re-enthroned.
Earlier today, the Kano State House of Assembly passed a bill to dethrone the current Emir and also dismantle the four new Emirates instituted by former governor of the state, Ganduje.
OPEN TELEVISION Naija further gathered that the state governor however signed the bill and announced the reinstatement of Sanusi as the new Emir of Kano.
As at the time of filing this report, Open Television confirmed from credible sources in the state that there is serenity, calmness and orderliness in Kano, the state capital and other parts of the ancient Northern state.
