As part of humanitarian efforts to support the families of deceased police officers, the Police Community Relation Committee (PCRC) of Ogun State, led by Venerable Dr. Samson Popoola, has presented an endowment fund of five hundred thousand naira (N500,000) to the children of the late Inspector, Temitope Agoro Olatunji.
The presentation took place on Wednesday at the Ogun State Police Headquarters' Conference Hall in Eleweran, Abeokuta.
The Chairman of PCRC Ogun State, Ven. Samson Popoola, expressed sorrow over the sudden death of Inspector Olatunji, noting her consistent support for the PCRC.
Popoola explained that it was in recognition of her contributions that the Ogun State PCRC decided to honor her memory by supporting her daughter and grandson with the endowment fund, which members collectively contributed towards.
OPEN TELEVISION Naija reports that the total amount raised was approximately N615,000, from which N500,000 was given to the late inspector’s daughter, and a Public Address System (PAS) was donated to the headquarters in her memory.
Popoola emphasized that the core mandate of the PCRC is to support police officers and their families, highlighting the importance of showing compassion rather than focusing solely on celebrations.
Following Popoola statement, which says "At PCRC, one of our core mandates is to support the police in whatever way we can. It’s not always about parties or merry-making; we need to show compassion when it’s necessary.
"When we learned of Titilope's sudden death, we were away from Ogun State. Her death at the young age of 42 deeply affected us, as we knew how supportive she had always been, even at the mess. Since her passing, I have only heard positive things about her and she was very accommodating. Because of this, we decided to do something in her memory to support her daughter and grandson. We launched an endowment fund and asked all our members to contribute. We raised about N615,000, and from that amount, we decided to give N500,000 to her daughter. We also bought a public address system, which we are donating to this conference hall in her memory." He highlighted.
Popoola stated that the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Abidoun Alamutu, acknowledged the commendable service of the late Inspector, Olatunji, describing her as one of the best colleagues he had worked with, free of any issues.
