Pay Abiola’s Family ₦45bn Debt FG Owes MKO" Lamido Tells Tinubu

Former Governor of Jigawa State,, Alhaji Sule Lamido, has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to pay the ₦45 billion that the Federal Government allegedly owes the late Chief MKO Abiola.

OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports that Lamido made the call during the public launch of his book, “Being True To Myself, held in Abuja on Tuesday.

Lamido revealed that he got to know about the debt owed the late politician when he visited former military president Ibrahim Babangida.

According to him, “Abiola won the election. I went to see IBB, and he told me Abiola is being owed ₦45 billion. He suffered twice — denied his mandate and left unpaid.”

He therefore appealed to the federal government to settle the debt, which submitted, would serve as a step towards closing the chapter on the June 12, 1993, presidential election.

OTN News further reports as gathred that the former Governor spoke directly to the Minister of Information, who represented President Bola Tinubu at the event, urging him to deliver a direct message to the Presidency: “Please tell Tinubu to pay the ₦45 billion owed to Abiola’s family. That payment would mark a symbolic closure to the June 12 story. It’s important.”
