Ondo: Akure Youths Stage Protests Over Killing of Farmers

Scores of farmers and youths from Tafa area of Ajagbusi in Akure North Local Government Council of Ondo State on Tuesday have staged a protest over the killing of three farmers by alleged herdsmen.
The protesters armed with leaves brought the corpses of the victims to the scene of the protest, claiming that the farmers were killed in the early hours of Tuesday while on their way to the farm.
Infuriated by the latest killing, youths of the community in their numbers reportedly took the corpses of the slain farmers to the state secretariat in Alagbaka, the state capital.
The latest killing was coming a few weeks after five farmers were killed at Aba Oyinbo’, in the same Akure North Local Council Area of the state.
The protesters lamented the inability of the government to put a stop to the incessant attacks and killings, the traditional ruler of Adeshina Community, Taiwo Samuel, described the incident as one too many.
The community appealed to the Government to be sincere with tackling the challenges of killings and other crimes in the state.
