ON THE HIGHWAY AFRICA KICKS OFF ROAD SAFETY CAMPAIGN IN LAGOS

As the Yuletide season approaches, road users are bracing themselves for increased vehicular and human traffic with the attendant potential hazards. To mitigate these risks and promote road safety, ON THE HIGHWAY Africa is organizing a high-level Town Hall Meeting and Awareness Campaign.
OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports as gathered that the Theme for the event is "Driving into the New Year: Safer Roads, Fuller Communities," the event aligns with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), which emphasize the importance of reducing road traffic deaths and injuries.
According to the convener, who is the Founder and Publisher of ON THE HIGHWAY Africa magazine, Julie Chi-Nwaoh, "Road safety is everybody's business." The campaign aims to sensitize all road users on the importance of safety measures and responsible behaviour on the roads.
The Town Hall Meeting will bring together stakeholders from various agencies concerned with road transportation and traffic management to discuss strategies for managing road safety during the festive season.
The event will feature special guests, including ACM. Ann Oladayo FSI, Zonal Commanding Officer, Lagos and Ogun State Command; CC Kehinde Hamzat, Lagos State Sector Commander; and CC Akinwumi Oladapo Fasakin, Ogun State Sector Commander.
Other highpoints of the event include: Panel Discussions with panelists drawn from the Media, Automotive and transportation sectors, who will shed light on safety and security matters.
The panel discussions will not focus on finding solutions to challenges facing road users and identifying ways to improve road safety , especially as the year is.
OTN News further reports that the organizers have planned a post-event initiative to visit hospitals and in order to provide cash donations to Road Traffic crash Victims.
As a call to Action, Road users are urged to take responsibility for their safety and the safety of others on the road. By working together, we can reduce road accidents and make our roads safer for everyone.
The event will hold December 12th, 2025 at FRSC Ojodu Lagos Command by 11am .
