Ogun Unfolds Plan to Harmonize Taxes, Levies, Face Out Double Taxation of Businesses

As part of strategic policy drive towards improving the ease of doing business for the business community in the state, Ogun state Government has said that it is working towards the harmonization of taxes and levies paid by businesses thus easing out double taxations.
The Honourable Commissioner for Industry, Trade and Investment, in the state, Mr. Adebola Sofela, made this known during his strategic visit to the Head Office of Nestle Nigeria, where he and his entourage of top government officials of the Ministry, were warmly received by the company's Managing Director, Mr. Wassim Elhusseini, in Lagos.
Sofela revealed that his visit was strategically targeted at boosting and lubricating the existing relationship between Ogun State and the private business sector.
According to him, the Prince Dapo Abiodun led government has been committed to capacity building at all levels, pointing out that Technical schools in the State were being upgraded to cater sufficiently for the technically skilled manpower requirements of companies within the state.
The Commissioner added that the present administration in Ogun State has improved land administration system to enable investors get title documents without delay in order to leverage for financing.
He also pointed it out that the government has been very intentional and consistent in the area of creating new industrial clusters to take care of the increasing influx of both local and foreign investors to the gateway state in tandem with the agenda for securing a great economic future for the state.
Speaking on youth unemployment,Sofela appealed to companies located in all corridors of the three senatorial districts of the State to prioritize employment of qualified residents of the State as a matter of Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR) to the host communities.
His words": We are working to ensure harmonization of taxes and levies to reduce the incidence of double taxation.
The Governor is particularly interested in creating an enabling environment for business to thrive considering the government’s huge investment in security and infrastructure,” he noted
In his own remarks, the Managing Director, Nestle Nigeria, Mr. Elhusseini, said no less than 80% of Nestle's investment is domiciled in Ogun state.
He further affirmed that the State government is in the right direction with its business-friendly policies and planned incentives to investors willing to invest and do business in the Gateway state.
