Ogun NUJ Poll: Ayinla, ‘Team RA’ Gain Chapels' Endorsements Ahead of NUJ Election 2025

Ahead of the Ogun State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) set to hold on December 11, 2025, the wave making TeamhaA has on Friday, taken its campaigns themed Rebuild for Accountability to the Federated Chapel, where it secured overwhelming endorsement from members.

OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports as gathered that the five-member team led by the seasoned journalist and former Correspondents’ Chapel Chairman, Prince, Razaq Ayinla, was warmly received by over 35 members of the chapel at the Ogun NUJ Hall, Abeokuta.

Team RA, comprising five aspirants, is challenging the incumbent “Itesiwaju Otun Team” led by Comrade Akinwale Olarenwaju, who is seeking re-election after a three-year term. 

During the visit, the aspirants presented themselves and appealed for support in their bid to lead the council into what they described as “a new era of accountability , transparency, professionalism and progressive unionism”.

Speaking during the visit, Ayinla, who currently serves as the News Editor of BusinessDay, pledged to reposition the Council for higher professional standards, improved welfare, and building a stronger institutional credibility.

“We are here to seek your mandate and we assure you that Team RA represents competence, integrity, and genuine service to the union”, he said.

The Members of the Federated Chapel led by the Chapel Chairman, Comrade Juwon Opayemi, expressed their excitement and satisfaction with the outreach by the Rasaq Ayinla-led Team RA, commending the team for reaching out to all members directly.

The aspirants under Team RA include:

- Comrade Razaq Ayinla, for Council Chairman

- Comrade Modupe Salabiu, for Council Secretary

- Comrade Folake Ade-Adeniji, for Council Treasurer

- Comrade Kunle Ibikunle, for Council Financial Secretary

- Comrade Seun Adunlami, for Council Auditor

OTN News further reports that the Chairman of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Michael Ogunsiji, as well as other editors and reporters from multiple online media platforms were in attendance at the outreach.

The outreach to the Federated Chapel by Team RA on Friday marks a major milestone in the strategic consultations and campaigns build-up to the Ogun NUJ Election as the team had earlier toured other Chapels within the council namely: OGBC Chapel, OGTV Chapel, Correspondents Chapel, Premium Radio Chapel, Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation (FMINO) Chapel, NTA Chapel, SWAN and others.

Meanwhile, the Lead if Team RA, Prince Ayinla, confirmed that visits to Ogun State Information Chapel, the largest Chapel and Ijebu East Chapel, are scheduled in the coming days.
