Ogun Government Signs MoU with China To Boost Vocational Education In Tertiary Institutions

Ogun State Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with China-Africa Investment FZC, the Management Company of Ogun Guangdong Free Trade Zone and Beijing World Skills Ascending Youth Education Technology Company Limited to promote Technical and Vocational Education in Tertiary Institutions.
OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports as gathered that the State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu made this known while speaking during the event at the ministry's Conference Room in Oke-Mosan.
He revealed that the MOU was signed on behalf of tertiary institutions in the State to ensure implementation of the inclusion of Vocational and Technical courses into the tertiary institutions' syllabuses.
Prof. Arigbabu added that the development would offer students who have gone to higher institutions to study courses of their choice, the opportunities of being trained and certified also in Vocational and Technical courses, saying this would enable them to properly engage themselves and employ others to supplement what they earn in terms of academic accomplishment.
"I see this as a very good step that will contribute immensely to the development of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Ogun State and Nigeria at large,“Arigbabu stated.
In their separate remarks, the Deputy General Manager, China-Africa Investment FZC, Ogun-Guangdong Free Trade Zone, Mr. Kevin Liu and The Managing Director, Beijing World Skills Ascending Youth Education Technology Co. Ltd, Miss Wendy Wang assured that the collaboration would establish a bridge between China and various tertiary institutions across Nigeria including Ogun State, saying it would be helpful and beneficial to over Seven Hundred Thousand (700,000) students in the state.
