Ogun Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele Escapes Attack By Protesting Students in Abeokuta

Reports reaching the news desk of OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA OTN News have it that the Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Engr. Mrs. Noimot Salako-Oyedele has narrowly escaped an attack by the representatives of Student Bodies who were staging a protest in Abeokuta, the state capital today.

Monitored reports from the office of the Deputy Governor confirmed that the Deputy Governor's convoy was on its way to 35 Artillery Brigade Alabama, Abeokuta, Ogun State, to represent the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, at the reception marking the year 2025, Armed Forces Rememberance day Celebrations, when her convoy was waylaid by the protesting students who 

trooped to the streets of Abeokuta moving from Panseke through Oke-Olewo en route Kuto and reportedly heading to Government Secretariat, Oke-Mosan during the protest which had some policemen monitoring it.

OTN News gathered that the mob of protesting students of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic Abeokuta popularly referred to as MAPOLY, joined by their National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) members, APOLY were found armed with sticks, and other dangerous hand held materials, of which all efforts to allow the Deputy Governor gain right of passage proved abortive, as the students, upon realization that she was on the convoy, reinforced and became extremely restive, thereby rushed to attack her convoy with the aim of demobilizing it, despite efforts by her security details, as well as other police officers on grounds to persuade the students to calmness and allow the convoy pass. 

OTN News further gathered that the convoy of the Deputy Governor took an informed strategic decision to make an immediate detour to her lodge for the protesting students to pass peacefully before she left for the function she was slated to attend.

However, the procession by the protesting and aggressive actions of the students created vehicular obstructions, making movements difficult, of which some parts of her security vehicle were damaged while her security operatives were also hurt in the process of maintaining law and order contrary to the news making rounds in the press.
