Oba Olugbenle Praises President Tinubu, Senator Adeola, Others For Upgrade of FPI to Federal University of Technology

The Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland,who also serves as Chairman of the Ogun State Council of Obas, His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle (MFR) has extended heartfelt appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, (GCFR) for the official upgrade of the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro-Yewa, Ogun State, to a Federal University of Technology, Ilaro (FUTI).
According to a release by the Special Assistant to the Paramount Ruler on Media and Strategic Communications, ‘Deola Adeyemi, the first class traditional ruler has commended Aremo (Senator) Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi) for his unwavering determination and pivotal role, along with other members of the National Assembly, in ensuring the successful passage of the bill that led to the upgrade, noting that their relentless efforts paved the way for the President’s assent to the transformative legislation.
Oba Olugbenle described President Tinubu’s decision as a bold step toward advancing technological education and empowering Nigerian youths.
He emphasized that the elevation from polytechnic to university status is not merely a change in title but a significant leap in academic potential and regional development.
“The elevation of the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, to a University of Technology, Ilaro is more than a change in nomenclature; it marks the opening of new doors for our youths and communities”, Kabiyesi stated.
He further praised the President’s visionary leadership and foresight, affirming that the development would stimulate innovation, youth empowerment, and socio-economic growth across the country.
The monarch also extended his gratitude to members of the National Assembly for their unified support in facilitating the legislative process.
He acknowledged their commitment to educational advancement and regional progress, which played a crucial role in turning the dream of a university into a reality.
Similarly, in a heartfelt message, Oba Olugbenle congratulated the Rector, Dr. Mukail Akinde, the management and staff of the institution, and all indigenes of Ilaro and Yewaland, both at home and abroad.
He encouraged them to view this achievement as a collective victory and a call to responsibility, appealing to the community and stakeholders to work closely with the federal government to support the growth and development of the new Federal University of Technology, Ilaro-Yewa, with a shared goal of transforming it into a world-class institution of global repute.
