NEW FRAUD FORMAT IN TOWN: Fraudsters Disguising As Assassins Attempt to Defraud Penpushing Founder, Demand N20m

In a development that smacks of trying their new fraud format on the wrong target, suspected fraudsters, disguising as assassins have threatened to eliminate the Founder of Penpushing Media, Dimeji Kayode-Adedeji, giving him an option to spare him if he could cough out N20 million to save his life.
OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News gathered that the gang led by a member who identified himself as Femi Poly, at about 7.30 am earlier this week,
had put a phone call across to the frontline Ogun-based journalist, claiming that they had been assigned to assassinate him, but had a rethink on carrying out the operation.
"We have your photograph, we were assigned by somebody close to you to kill you, but we observed that you are an elderly man, and decided not to carry out the assignment, but to reach out to you if you can offer us N20 million", the suspects threatened.
OTN News further gathered that the gang, operating with mobile phone numbers +2349036869898, +2348080858130, when asked who was their sponsor and what was the reason given to them to warrant the assignment to terminate the journalist, said he would be provided the information after paying them the N20million demanded.
According to them,"The person is your close associate, who told us he had issues with you, but can you keep it to yourself if we reveal the identity, which we shall do after payment of the N20 million".
The sequence of negotiation talks by the fraudsters posing as assasins thereafter reached a dead end as the publisher and veteran journalist told them he has no such amount, of which the gang reportedly kept reducing the 'life-saving' ransome from the initial N20 million to lower amounts of N500, 000, and N150, 000 of which the target declined having the capacity to pay them the demanded sum but offered them a meagre sum of N10,000 which said was readily available with him as at the time of the conversation.
The fraudulent nature of the fake assassination gang however became obvious as they reportedly sent an Access Bank account with the account name Aminu Adamu and Account number 0002884692 to the journalist for the payment.
The veteran journalist has however, revealed that the police authorities in Ogun state have been informed and furnished with the details of the fraudsters for immediate further investigations.
