NEW APPOINTMENT:Dr. Adeola Ekine Appointed SA To NUJ President As NAWOJ Lagos Chapter Commend Her Appointment - Says It's An Honour Well Deserved.

Following her appointment as the Special Adviser to the National President, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Comrade Alhassan Yahaya, the executives and members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists NAWOJ, Lagos chapter have congratulated Dr. Adeola Ekine, describing her new appointment as a well-deserved honour.
OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports as gathered that Dr. EKine's appointment took place on Tuesday 12th August 2025, in Kano State during the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the union.
In a statement made available to the media, the Lagos Chapter of NAWOJ has openly commended the National President of the Journalists Union for appointing Dr. Adeola Ekine to the new post, describing her as a distinguished journalist whom the cap fits.
The members and executives of the association jointly congratulate Dr. Ekine on this appointment and are confident that her expertise and experience will be invaluable to the NUJ National President.
Dr. Ekine is a highly respected journalist and public affairs specialist with extensive experience in media and communication.
Prior to her latest appointment, she served as the Chairperson of NAWOJ, Lagos Chapter, where she demonstrated exceptional leadership skills, dedication, and passion for promoting gender equality and empowering women in the media industry.
Other notable positions previously held by her included: Vice Chairperson and Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Lagos Information Chapel.
Also, she had received an Honorary Doctoral Fellowship Award from the Institute of Public Sector Management (IPSM), led NAWOJ, Lagos Chapter in paying a courtesy visit to several Public, Private, and Cultural Organizations, promoting collaboration with NAWOJ to advance journalism and women’s empowerment.
Dr. (Mrs.) Ekine is an active member of NAWOJ, NUJ, Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), and Institute of Public Sector Management (IPSM) United Kingdom.
Meanwhile, the Chief Executive Officer and Publisher, OTN News, Ambassador Olufemi Orunsola has also congratulated Dr. Adeola Ekine on her new appointment, describing her as the square peg in the square hole, considering her proven track records of passionate commitment to journalism in Nigeria.
