OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports as gathered that follow an alleged diverted workers’ funds from the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), has handed a 7-day Nationwide Strike notice to the Federal Government of Nigeria, warning that, Nigerian workers will not stand idly while their sweat and future are stolen.

OTN News further reports as gathered that the Congress who made this warning in a communiqué issued after its Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting in Abuja this week, warned the FG to refund the allegedly diverted workers’ funds from the NSITF and immediately constitute the Governing Board of the National Pension Commission (PENCOM).

NLC warned that failure to meet these demands would trigger a nationwide strike.

The meeting, chaired by NLC President, Comrade Joe Ajaero, reviewed pressing issues affecting Nigerian workers, the trade union movement, and the state of the nation.

OTN News observes that the CWC who accused the government of neglecting workers’ welfare and undermining pension administration, insisted that the alleged diversion of funds must be addressed without delay.

The NLC, however, announced the dissolution of its Edo State leadership, citing undisclosed reasons.

“Enough is enough. Nigerian workers will not stand idly by while their sweat and future are stolen,” the communiqué declared.
