MAPOLY SRC Floats Legislative Summit: Honours Rector, DSA, NSCDC Boss, Legal Icon, Habeeb Whyte, OTN News CEO, Others

As part of efforts towards advancing the noble cause of grooming young effective leaders and youth representatives, the Students Representatives Council (SRC), Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta has hosted its second Legislative Summit where it honoured a retinue of individuals contributing to leadership across different spheres of life with awards of excellence.
OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports that the Legislative Summit, themed: Effective Representation: The Hallmark of Effective Leadership held at the Otunba Gbenga Daniel (OGD) auditorium of the state-owned Polytechnic under the leadership of the SRC Speaker, Rt. Hon.Adekoya Opeyemi Joshua, flanked by the President of the Student Union, Comrade Senator Ogunlana Isaac Oluwajuwonlo (Icecon Ray) with the Director of Students Affairs, Mr.Olusegun Aninkan representing the Rector, Arc.Dr. Babatunde 'Koye Jolaoso, in attendance.
OTN News further reports that the second edition of the Legislative Summit, which was graced by student representatives across all departments in the frontline Polytechnic, paraded significant guest speakers who made presentations on salient issues in leadership and youth representation.
One of the invited guest speakers at the Summit, Ambassador Barrister Ibidapo Habeeb Whyte, in his presentation, noted that, "Dynamic Nigerian youths should by all means eschew entanglement with Internet fraud and other forms of criminality as nothing traps a young person's destiny more than getting caught in the web of criminality."
Barrister Habeeb-Whyte further emphasized that although the current socio-economic realities of Nigeria are obviously harsh, engagement in internet fraudsters, popularly known as "Yahoo Yahoo", is a demeaning option for productive youths as it often leads to a dead end.
He condemned an ugly trend among some Nigerian mothers, young ladies and religious leaders who overtly and covertly encourage young men to engage in fraudulent online activities and other criminal activities all in the name of materialism, noting that the trend is ultimately destroying the fabrics of family life in the country.
He warned that of the ugly trend is not quickly reversed, the future generations in the Nigerian society will pay dearly for the collapse of family life.
The panelist session of the Summit featured the Speaker, Ogun Youth Assembly, Comrade Olufemi Owoeye MVP, and maverick multi-talented media entrepreneur and CEO of OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News, Ambassador Olufemi Orunsola with Jesuferanmi Balogun hosting the session.
The panel discussion, among other things, came to conclusion that effective research into the real and pressing needs of a given constituency and effective communication remain indispensable tools for effective representation and leadership at all levels of youth representation, noting that proper grooming, mentoring are required to ensure that young leaders optimize their leadership potentials.
Highpoints of the Summit include the honouring of the Rector of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic Abeokuta, Ar. Dr. Babatunde Koye Jolaosho, the Director of Students Affairs, Mr.Olusegun Aninkan with Awards of Leadership Excellence on account of visible improvements recorded at Moshood Abiola Polytechnic Abeokuta on all fronts, especially in respect to Students welfare and appreciable academic turnaround blended with the revival of meaningful social life among students.
The Director of Students Affairs who received the awards on behalf of the Rector, Arc. Babatunde Koye Jolaoso noted that the awards were testimonials to the fact that the institution has struck the right chords in exemplary leadership since Management and students are often at loggerheads except when the welfare of students are duly guaranteed.
Other awardees honoured at the Summit included: the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, the Ogun State Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Commandant Remilekun Omolade Ekundayo, Human rights activist and young legal icon, Ambassador Ibidapo Habeeb Whyte, as well as multi-talented practical media scholar and entrepreneur, who is the Chief Executive Officer, OTN News, Ambassador Olufemi Orunsola, among others.
In the students awardees categories, no fewer than six students were honoured with the award of leadership excellence in recognition of their exemplary service, commitment and valuable contribution to the growth and success of the students representative council during the 2024/2025 Administration.

In an exclusive interview with the OTN News crew, the MAPOLY Abeokuta SRC Speaker, Rt. Hon.Adekoya Opeyemi Joshua, whose biological father also graced the occasion, expressed his profound gratitude to the Governor of Ogun State for appointing the right set of leaders to man the affairs of the Polytechnic at both the Governing Council and Management levels.
He also hailed the management for creating a conducive ambience for student representatives to survive and thrive.
