The Students’ Union Government of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, under the leadership of Comrade Temitope Afolabi, also known as Big Afo, has declared the first year of Arc. Dr. Koye Jolaoso’s administration is “a defining turnaround moment” for the institution, praising the Rector for restoring stability, reshaping student confidence and driving a leadership culture anchored on humility and openness.
OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports as gathered that the commendation came via a spirited statement, by the student leaders.
According to the SUG President, Comrade Afolabi Temitope, MAPOLY under Dr. Jolaoso has witnessed “a revival of values, a renewed sense of direction and a leadership style that speaks to both tradition and modern aspirations.”
The endorsement came on the heels of a surprise celebration organised by MAPOLY staff, where top officials — including Deputy Rector, Dr. (Mrs.) Yetunde Lanre-Iyanda; Librarian, Alhaja Basirat Akintunde; and Bursar, Mrs. Folasade Madariola — gathered to honour the Rector’s one-year milestone.
Prayers led by Pastor Luke Adebola-Adelaja and Chief Imam of MAPOLY Abeokuta, Najeemdeen Shodiya, who opened the event, moments before an emotional Dr. Jolaoso thanked workers for what he described as “a year sustained by God’s grace and MAPOLY’s spirit of unity.”
The SUG President said the Rector’s humility captured the heart of his administration.
"Dr. Jolaoso has shown that leadership can be firm without losing its human touch. He listens, he engages, and he stands with students. That alone has changed the atmosphere on campus,” Comrade Afolabi noted.
He highlighted visible improvements in administrative processes, strengthened student–management relations, enhanced security, and a more predictable academic structure — achievements he said have placed MAPOLY on a “future-ready path.”
Adding flair to the celebration, the Cadet Corps mounted a guard of honour, saluting what they called the Rector’s “student-first philosophy.”
The week also produced inspiring student success: Mass Communication student, Fawaz Adebisi, who emerged first runner-up at the 2025 CJID Media Conference in Abuja, dedicated his award to the Rector’s supportive leadership.
Adebisi was the only polytechnic student among the top finalists nationwide.
The immediate past SUG President also bestowed an award on the Rector, recognising his “distinctive vision and unwavering commitment to MAPOLY’s integrity and growth.”
Comrade Afolabi reaffirmed that the union remains solidly aligned with the Rector’s vision.
“MAPOLY has found its rhythm again. This momentum must not drop. The students are ready, the management is committed and the future is unfolding with clarity,” he said.
The SUG leader therefore called on students to stay focused and keep faith with the administration, assuring them that the next phase of Dr. Jolaoso’s leadership will drive deeper reforms and greater institutional pride.
He concluded that MAPOLY, under the current leadership, is not just moving forward — “it is rising to reclaim its place as a model of excellence.”
