Man Shot Dead After Breaching Security at President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Resort

OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports a gathered that a man was fatally shot by U.S. Secret Service agents after breaching the secure perimeter of Mar-a-Lago, the private resort of President Donald Trump, in Palm Beach.

OTN News further reports as gathered that the shooting occurs in the early hours of Sunday, around 1:30 a.m. Eastern Time, after security personnel detect an intruder near the north gate of the estate. 

According to the United States Secret Service, the man unlawfully entered a restricted zone while allegedly carrying what appeared to be a shotgun and a fuel can.

Secret Service agents, working alongside a deputy from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, confront the suspect shortly after the breach is detected. During the encounter, shots are fired, and the man is pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities confirmed that no Secret Service agents or sheriff’s deputies are injured in the incident.

The agents explained that at the time of the breach, President Trump was not at Mar-a-Lago. He was reported to be at the White House in Washington. 

While no official statement has been issued immediately, sources said the president was briefed on the incident.

The identity of the deceased has not been released, though preliminary information describes him as a man in his 20s. Law enforcement officials have not disclosed a motive for the unauthorised entry or provided further details about the suspected weapons recovered.

A joint press briefing involving the Secret Service, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office is scheduled for later in the day to provide updates on the investigation.

Mar-a-Lago, which frequently serves as a residence and retreat for President Trump, is designated a protected site and operates under heightened security protocols. 

Officials stress that the perimeter breach is swiftly contained and that there is no ongoing threat to public safety.

OTN News observes that the incident marked the latest security scare at a property linked to the U.S. president, highlighting the intense vigilance surrounding high-profile locations associated with national leaders.
