OTN News further reports that the order which was contained in a letter dated March 25, 2025, which has recently surfaced on social media, revealed that the funds would be deducted from the State/Local Government Joint Account and paid to Sottom Synergy Resources Ltd, a private firm contracted to supply four brand-new vehicles and refurbish two classic models.
The letter titled “Conveyance of Approval for the Release of Funds”, was signed by the Director of Local Government Inspection, Abubakar S. Dabo, on behalf of the Commissioner for Local Government Affairs.
According to the letter, “I am directed to convey Government’s approval for the release of the aggregate sum of N15,227,272.72 per LGA… to repair 2 No. vehicles and supply 4 No. vehicles to the Kano Emirate Council through Sottom Synergy Resources Ltd."

Furthermore, the letter also instructed all LGA chairmen to ensure strict adherence to due process in the disbursement and execution of the directive.
Meanwhile, the development has sparked mixed reactions across social media, with critics questioning the timing and priority of such an expenditure, especially given the budgetary challenges and poor infrastructure facing many local governments.
One user, Mubashshir Saidu, wrote: “If it’s true, then this is oppression!!! Leaders should always pay attention to the condition of the common people! What’s the problem with Emir Sanusi or his palace and vehicle? Come on, people.”
However, others, defended the move, suggesting it reflects the government’s intent to restore the prestige and functionality of the Kano Emirate following Emir Sanusi II’s recent reinstatement.
