Jubilant Amosun Says Appointment of Governing Council for Federal University of Medicine and Medical Sciences Abeokuta  is Realization of Long-Term Dream of Ogun Stakeholders

The immediate past Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has revealed that the appointment of Usman Mohammed Shanawa as the head of the Governing Council for the Federal University of Medicine and Medical Sciences in Abeokuta fulfills one of the deepest aspirations of stakeholders in Ogun State.

OPEN TELEVISION Naija (OTN) News reports  that an obviously jubilant and fulfilled Amosun, was seen beaming with contagious smiles upon realization of the fact that the President has appointed Governing Council for the university,  the bill for establishment of which, he had sponsored.

Seeing the Federal University of Medicine and Medical Sciences in Abeokuta as his brain child, now being tortured to materialization, Amosun has profusely expressed his deep satisfaction with the recent appointment of the Usman Mohammed Shanawa-led Governing Council for the University. 

OTN News reports that Senator Ibikunle Amosun who represented Ogun Central Senatorial District during the 9th Assembly, conveyed his gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in a message on Friday, highlighting the significance of this development for stakeholders, particularly those in Ogun Central.

Amosun stated that the announcement fulfills one of the long-held aspirations of the people of Ogun State, especially Abeokuta, where he served as Governor from 2011 to 2019, and as Senator from 2003 to 2007 and 2019 to 2023. 

An obviously jubilant Amosun continuouslu beamed his contagious throughout Friday as he expressed a deep sense of fulfillment, sharing that, like many others, he is greatly encouraged by this progress. 

OTN News also reports that the former governor extends his sincere thanks to President Tinubu for taking the decisive step of appointing a Governing Council to guide the new University. 

Amosun also expressed his gratitude to former President, Muhammadu Buhari, for signing the bill into law and praised the leadership of the 9th Assembly for their commitment to realizing this goal. 

Furthermore, he acknowledged the efforts of former Minister of Finance, Zainab Ahmed, and congratulated the people of Ogun State, particularly the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba (Dr.) Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, on this important achievement.

In his words: "I also extend my heartfelt appreciation to the immediate past President, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, for his gracious approval of the bill establishing the University. The 9th National Assembly deserves commendation for its crucial role in bringing this legacy educational institution to life. I would like to specifically acknowledge President of the 9th Senate, Senator Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan, GCON, and the Speaker of the 9th House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, CFR, for their selfless dedication in realizing the aspirations of our people."

"I must also highlight the invaluable support of the Former Minister of Finance, Mrs. Zainab Ahmed. Congratulations are in order for all the stakeholders and leaders in Ogun State, particularly those from Ogun Central Senatorial District. I would like to especially recognize our traditional leaders, including the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba (Dr.) Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, CFR, and everyone who contributed to the success of this significant educational legacy," Amosun stated.
