I’m Not Fighting Speed Darlington Again; I Want to Fight Anthony Joshua For N100m - Portable Declares

OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports that amid the ongoing preparation for a boxing match, Nigerian street hop singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has declared that he wants to fight former heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua for N100m instead of his scheduled bout with colleague Darlington Okoye, aka Speed Darlington.
OTN News further reports that the “Zazuu” crooner, who made the decision in a video posted on his Instagram page, stated that Speed Darlington was an unworthy opponent and sought to battle the professional boxing star instead.
OTN News observes that the singer also bragged about his status in the music industry, saying he is bigger and more popular than Speed Darlington.
Portable, who however, suggested that Speed Darlington was only hoping to fight him to promote his upcoming show in April, added “I’m not fighting Speed Darlington again; I want Anthony Joshua with N100m."
OTN News further observes that portable u-turn about the already scheduled boxing fight comes days after Speed Darlington hit the gym in preparation for a proposed boxing match against Portable.
Meanwhile, Darlington, in an apparent jab at his rival, posted a video of himself on social media buying a coffin before going to the gym with his trainer.
OTN News recalls that the longstanding animosity between Portable and Speed Darlington escalated when the Darlington reportedly offered Portable N500,000 to perform at his event, an offer portable considered insulting.
However, Portable has been spotted training in an open-air, makeshift ring in preparation for fights.
OTN News also recalls that the street-pop artist previously defeated Nollywood actor, Charles Okocha, in a similar celebrity boxing match in December 2023, refusing Okocha’s subsequent calls for a rematch.
