HUNGER CURE? FG Allocates 20 Trucks of Rice to States, FCT for Food Security in Nigeria

Amid biting effects of inflations, rising cost of food and cries of hunger in the land, the Federal Government has allocated 20 trucks of rice to all the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, to ensure food security for vulnerable Nigerians.

OPEN TELEVISION Naija reports that the Minister of Information and National Orientation, who announced the move, Mohammed Idris, made it known to press men that the gesture demonstrates the Tinubu's administration commitment to ensuring that no citizen goes hungry. 

The rice is intended for distribution to the most vulnerable segments of the population, showcasing the Government’s dedication to the well-being of its citizens.

This donation is a significant step towards addressing food insecurity in the country and highlights the Government’s resolve to prioritize food availability."

OPEN TELEVISION Naija reports that after the Federal Executive Council meeting on Monday, Idris reiterated the Tinubu administration's commitment to ensuring food security for all Nigerians. 

He emphasized that the Government is dedicated to making sure every citizen has access to basic necessities like food and this donation also marks the beginning of a comprehensive food security program.

However, many Nigerians who spoke with OPEN TELEVISION Naija have maintained that given what the country witnessed during the distribution of food palliatives shared to states by the FG as well as food palliatives by the Coalition of Corporate Organizations Against COVID-19 during the lock down phases of the post COVID-19 years, 2020 and beyond, they are rather skeptical about the efficient delivery of the new food grant by the FG to the states.
