How Lagos Crossed Over to 2025 in Grand Style with Sanwo-olu Joined By Mega Stars, Wizkid, Burna Boy, Olamide, Tiwa Savage, Others

In a move that bears further testimony to the fact that Lagos state is indeed Nigeria's Centre of Excellence, Governor Babajide Sanwo-olu has led Lagosians into the new year 2025 in grand style in the company of a fleet of Nigerian Mega Stars.

OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports that the governor of the aquatic state of splendour led the GreaterLagosCountdown2025 cross over event in Lagos.

OTN News further reports that Babajide Sanwo-Olu, was captured in several photos enjoying moments with entertainers such as Wizkid, Burna Boy, Tiwa Savage, Olamide, and others during the #GreaterLagosCountdown2025 event.

In a statement shared by the governor on his X handle @jidesanwoolu on Wednesday, thanked artists and residents who made the event unforgettable.

"A heartfelt thank you to the incredible artists who honoured Lagos’ call to perform and made the night unforgettable—Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Burna Boy, Olamide, Seyi Vibez, and many more," the governor said, adding that, "Your talent and passion lit up the stage and brought joy to every corner of Lagos. Last night, Lagos came alive in a way that only Lagos can!”

Sanwo-olu further took pride in the realization that the energy at the event was “electric, with the vibrant spirit of our people shining through every moment."

In his appreciation notes to Lagosians who trooped out to participate in the event in their large numbers in unity, the governor said, “Thank you for showing the world the true Lagos spirit," adding that, "

It was a celebration like no other. Lagos is home. Together, we ushered in 2025 with unmatched energy and pride.”

GreaterLagosCountdown2025 started on Tuesday night, holding simultaneously across five(5) major locations in the state namely:Ikorodu, Badagry, Ikeja, Lagos Island, and Epe while the main stage was located at Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos Island.

The GreaterLagosCoubtdownto2025 was a superlative new year cross over event that showcased the best of Nigerian spirit of resilience, innovation, creativity, solidarity,unity for which the city of Lagos Nigeria has earned a global reputation.
