Holy Month of Fasting: "Pray for Nigeria’s Peace, Prosperity" First Lady Oluremi Tinubu Urge Nigerians As Lent, Ramadan Begin Same Day

Nigeria's First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu has called on Nigerians to pray for peace and prosperity in the country during the Holy Month of Ramadan and Lenten season.
OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports that the First Lady gave the charge in separate messages released to Christians and Muslims as Lent and Ramadan commence on Wednesday.
In her Lenten message, Senator Oluremi said, “As we begin this Lenten period, I pray this time of spiritual growth, self-reflection, and drawing closer to God is committed to following Christs example of love.”
She added, in the post shared on X by her media aide, Busola Kukoyi, “May our prayers and acts of compassion and kindness deepen our faith and reflect on our relationships with others.”
The First Lady also urged Nigerians to pray for the nation, saying, “I urge us to remember to pray for the peace and prosperity of our dear nation, Nigeria.”
She concluded the message with, “I wish us all a blessed and fulfilled Lenten season.”
In a similar vein, the First Lady, in a separate Ramadan message issued the same day, congratulated Muslims on the commencement of the fasting period.
“I felicitate with the Muslim faithful as you commence this blessed month of Ramadan,” she said adding that “I pray this Holy month bring you and your family and the nation as a whole, peace, joy, and spiritual fulfilment".
She further urged prayers for the country, saying, “During this holy month of fasting and prayers, I urge us all to remember our beloved nation in prayers for greater peace and prosperity".
The message concluded with the prayer, “May Almighty Allah accept all our supplications, forgive all our sins and answer all our prayers.”
“Ramadan Kareem,” she concluded.
The First Lady's charge for religious tolerance and unity is coming on the heels of the Islamic Holy Month of Ramadan announced to commence by Saudi Arabia after sighting of the crescent moon on Wednesday of which the Sultan of Sokoto has also confirmed late Tuesday night that the fasting month would commence nationwide on Wednesday for the next 29 or 30 days accordingly.
Coincidentally, the Christian season of Lent, which lasts for 40 days and 40 nights, is also scheduled to begin on Wednesday and is expected to end on April 2, 2026.
