OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports that the Nigerian celebrity chef, Hilda Baci, is gearing up for another record-breaking feat as she announces plans to cook the world’s largest pot of jollof rice.

OTN News further reports that the highly anticipated cook-off is scheduled for September 12, 2025, at Muri Okunola Park, Victoria Island, Lagos.

In an Instagram post on Friday, Baci revealed that the attempt will feature an extraordinary pot measuring six meters in width and six meters in height.

She described the project as a dream that has been two years in the making, noting that it will serve as more than just a culinary challenge.

“This event is not only about cooking, it is a celebration of Nigerian culture, our music, our food, and our community spirit,” she said.

Baci explained that the jollof rice festival will showcase Nigerian identity and hospitality to the world.

“In 2023, the Hilda Baci cookathon took the world by storm. This year, it is Jollof, the heartbeat of West Africa. A taste that tells our story,” she wrote.

She added that the project is being executed in partnership with Gino, a popular food brand. “Two years ago, I imagined the largest pot of Nigerian jollof rice the world had ever seen. Today, with Gino, my dream is becoming a reality,” she stated.

Her statement read: “In 2023, the Hilda Baci cookathon took the world by storm. This year, it is Jollof, the heartbeat of West Africa,” she wrote.

“A taste that tells our story. It is more than cooking, it is a celebration of our food, our culture, our music, and us. We are making history again, and I want you to be there when it happens.

“Two years ago, I imagined the largest pot of Nigerian Jollof rice the world had ever seen. Today, with Gino, a brand we all grew up with, my dream is becoming a reality.

“Hi, I am Hilda Baci, and on September 12, 2025 I will be making the largest pot of Nigerian Jollof rice the world has ever seen in this six meters by six meters pot, of course with my Gino and you. Because what is my Gino without you to enjoy it?”

OTN News recalls that Baci, who rose to international fame after setting the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon in May 2023, lost the title later that year to Irish chef Alan Fisher.

Despite the setback, she has remained a prominent figure in Nigeria’s food scene, continuing to use her platform to celebrate African cuisine.

OTN News, however, observes that the September 12 cook-off is expected to attract food lovers, music enthusiasts, and cultural icons, turning the event into a major festival in Lagos.
