Follow Up: Celestial Prophet Killed By Gunmen Inside Church Was So-Safe Corps Commandant

OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports that it has been confirmed that a 54-year-old Prophet of a Celestial Church of Christ (CCC) in Idiroko, Ipokia Local Government Area of Ogun State, Yomi Adetula, who was killed by some unknown gunmen on Sunday was a Commander of Ogun State Internal Security Agency, So-Safe Corps, who until his death was, the Director of Anti-Arms and Ammunition Smuggling of the security agency.
OTN News further reports that a picture of him in a So-Safe Corps uniform has it that the deceased was not only a Commander of So-Safe Corps Idi-Iroko, a security arm of the state government but also a major witness in an ongoing Court case involving an Nigerian investigative journalist from the Foundation for Investigative Journalism, (FIJ).
OTN News had earlier reported that in a statement by the spokesperson of the Ogun Police Command, CSP Omolola Odutola, who made available to the press, had it that the prophet was murdered by some unknown gunmen during sunday service and then escaped.
The statement reads that, "On January 19, 2025, around 10:30 AM, the divisional police officer of Idiroko received a report that someone had been killed at a Celestial Church located along Old Baggage Road, Odo Eran, Idiroko.
"Police officers quickly arrived at the scene and discovered one Yomi Adetula, a 54-year-old man, lying face up in a pool of blood that stained his white celestial garment.
"Upon closer inspection, his body was found to be riddled with bullets, and his head was severely damaged with an axe to confirm that he was indeed dead.
During the police investigation, it was revealed that three men entered the church, brandished a long double-barreled gun, aimed at their target, and fired a shot that caused chaos, and the assailant escaped.
Through the police's efforts, the body was transported to the General Hospital morgue in Ilaro.
The statement further reveals that "No arrest has been made yet, but the police are actively working to apprehend the fleeing suspects who escaped from the church located toward the border area.
However, the statement had it that normalcy has been restored in the area, and potential clues are expected to emerge in the coming days as investigations into this tragic incident are underway.
