Amid a fake news that surfaced online via some social media platforms, mostly WhatsApp, on Easter Monday evening, a son of the Nigerian living legend of juju music, Oreoluwa Obey-Fabiyi has affirmed that his father is still very much alive and doing fine, warning traffic-hungry bloggers to avoid incurring God's wrath by their misguided rumour peddling business.
OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports as observed by its Chief Executive Officer, Ambassador Olufemi Orunsola, late Monday night, that a reasonable member of a particular WhatsApp loop to which he belongs, sought clarifications on a news break reportedly found flying around in the social media space, alleging that "Evang. Prof. Ebenezer Obey-Fabiyi had just passed on a few minutes ago.
Upon swinging into proper journalistic action on the development, Olufemi Orunsola, who has a cordial relationship with the Obey-Fabiyi dynasty monitored the WhatsApp status of one of the sons of the living legend of juju music, where the fake news debunker alerts by Oreoluwa were sighted in sequences.
First, Oreoluwa wrote, " Big rumour oooooooo. My Father is Alive. Ebenezer Obey is doing well. Disregard anything you see on social media. "
In another WhatsApp status post that followed, Oreoluwa, who posted a lively picture of himself, in which he, standing behind his father in an indoor setting, placed his head next to the head of the Chief Commander who was obviously beaming with smiles of vivacity.
He simply posted a tarse warning beneath the picture, saying, "All you these bloggers, you better stop if you don't want God's wrath."
OTN News further reports that when Ambassador Olufemi Orunsola pulled a late night call through to Oreoluwa on Monday, the son of the living legend admitted that, he has been inundated with goodwill calls, chats, texts and several messages since the fake news about his father filtered into the social media space, noting that, "It is such a condemnable thing to see some people cooking and spreading fake news about the death of other people, especially prominent Nigerians like my father all in the name of trying to drive traffic to their platforms without considering the traumatic effect of their mischievous action on such people and their family members".
Oreoluwa, who further affirmed during the telephone conversation with Ambassador Orunsola that Baba Ebenezer Obey-Fabiyi was not only alive but was equally doing well thereafter sent a fake news debunker video made by the living legend of juju music, Evang Prof Ebenezer Obey-Fabiyi to OTN News.
In the video, the Evang was seen comfortably seated and singing one of his popular gospel song tracks to a melodious beat playing the background.
After introducing himself, the juju music master maestro singing in Nigerian pidgin English, "Satan you don loose o. Satan you don loose o. Na magomago you dey do. You don pafuka......." before taking a shirt break to directly address the rumours of his death, of which he expressed confidence that his time was nit yet up and that he is still alive, doing justice to his divine calling.

OTN News recalls that some five years ago, similar fake news and death rumours about the demise of Evang. Prof. Ebenezer Obey-Fabiyi was spread on social media.
The fake death news at tgat time emanated from one popular online community forum where one fellow identified as Yankeenowo, had at exactly 5: 11 pm on July 04, 2020 posted the fake death news about the demise of the juju music master maestro.
Although peddling of fake death news about prominent Nigerian celebrities is a frequent occurrence in the country's social media landscape, OTN News calls for more social responsibility and display of good social media etiquette by users of various platforms in terms of avoiding copying and pasting of unveriable breaking news, mostly circulated by traffic-hungry bloggers and mischievous elements dotting the social media ecology.
