End of An Era As Family Announces Death of 'Cash Madam’ Adebisi Edionseri Aged 89, Dapo Abiodun Mourns

Reports reaching the news desk of OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News have it that Abeokuta-based socialite, octogenarians business woman and philanthropist, Princess Kadijat Abike Adebisi Edionseri (née Elegbede) popularly known and addressed as 'Cash Madam's has died at the age of 89.

The sad news of her passage was released early today by her family, with additional information that her burial Fidauprayers will hold this afternoon at her Ibara GRA residence.

The statement reads:

With deep gratitude to Allah for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Princess Kadijat Abike Adebisi Edionseri (née Elegbede), who returned to her Creator on 5th January 2025 at the age of 89" noting that, 

"Her life was a shining example of grace, dignity, and unwavering faith. Princess Edionseri touched the lives of many through her wisdom, kindness, and dedication to both her family and her community. She taught us the importance of love, resilience, and faith in Allah, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire generations.

"As we grieve this monumental loss, we also celebrate the remarkable life she lived. Her laughter, warmth, and the values she instilled will forever remain in our hearts, guiding us as we navigate life without her physical presence.

It concludes that, "The funeral will take place according to Islamic rites on Monday, 6th January 2025, at 4:00 PM at her residence in Abeokuta GRA."

Meanwhile, the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun has mounrned the exit of the business icon and entrepreneurial matriarch.

In a statement issued on Monday, Governor Abiodun described Chief Edionseri's death as a significant loss, not only to Ogun State but also to Nigeria as a whole, noting that her remarkable achievements have inspired generations since the 1970s.

"I, on behalf of myself and the people of Ogun State, express heartfelt condolences to the family of Alhaja (Chief) Adebisi Edionseri," the Governor said.

He praised her resilience, ambition, and ability to achieve unparalleled success at a young age, qualities that positioned her as a role model for countless individuals within and beyond Ogun State.

Prince Dapo Abiodun remarked that Alhaja Adebisi's contributions to the business community and her vibrant social presence will be reference points for generations yet unborn. Her influence extended far and wide, making her a cherished figure in the hearts of many."

The Governor emphasized the immense void her passing leaves in the state but noted that her legacy would continue to inspire future entrepreneurs and social leaders. "As the state mourns the loss of such a formidable personality, the legacy of Chief (Mrs.) Adebisi Edionseri will undoubtedly continue to inspire future generations of entrepreneurs and social leaders," he added.
