Dapo Abiodun Unveils Ogun Tech Hub ‘Window on America’ to Empower Youths Through ICT

As part of moves to empower the youths, the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, on Thursday inaugurated the “Ogun Tech Hub Window on America,” a youth-focused digital innovation centre aimed at empowering the next generation through Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports that the initiative, an ICT project initiated by the American Consulate office in collaboration with GFA Technologies at the Ogun State Tech Hub, Kobape Road, Abeokuta.
OTN News further reports that the project seeks to bridge Nigeria and the United States in digital innovation and knowledge exchange, offering young Nigerians access to global resources that promote economic development and self-sufficiency.
Speaking at the inauguration, Governor Abiodun described the centre as a critical milestone in his administration’s public-private partnership (PPP) strategy to digitally transform the state.
He emphasized that the hub would serve as a digital lighthouse not only for Ogun State but also for Nigeria and Africa at large.
Furthermore, Governor Abiodun stressed that the initiative aligns perfectly with the state administration’s vision of equipping youths with digital skills for global competitiveness.
He added that, with this centre, Ogun is poised to become a leader in tech-driven economic advancement.
However, he urged young people to take full advantage of the platform to build technological capacity, develop marketable skills, and connect with global opportunities.
Subsequently, the governor also praised the U.S. Mission in Nigeria for what he called its “trust, foresight, and visionary investment” in Ogun State's future.
“At a time when many global actors are scaling back their engagement in emerging markets, the United States has chosen to deepen its presence in Ogun,” Governor Abiodun noted, adding that the state has already invested heavily in digital infrastructure to support such initiatives.
He further called on international development partners and global tech companies to collaborate with the state in turning Ogun into a hub for innovation that can serve the entire African continent.
In her remarks, the Acting United State Consular General in Nigeria, JoEllen Gorg, highlighted the centre’s role in promoting innovation, education, and youth empowerment.
She revealed that the Ogun centre is the 29th “Window on America” facility in Nigeria, made possible through the support of the state government.
OTN News also observes that, Gorg who disclosed that the window is equipped with modern computers, fast internet, access to thousands of physical and electronic books, billions of academic articles, and many more, called on the youths, entrepreneurs, teachers, as well as those in the creative industry to take advantage of this platform, and explore the window.
She, however, said that, they believe in the power of education and innovation to shape the future, adding that “this centre will help young people in Ogun State connect with the world and tap into abundant global opportunities.”
OTN News, however, understands that, the newly unveiled centre is expected to offer a wide range of resources, including access to educational materials, technology-driven programmes, virtual exchanges, and networking opportunities with professionals and institutions in Ogun State, Nigeria at large, the U.S. and beyond.
